In the period from February 19 to September 3, 2020, the project team organized and held a second round of meetings with farmers from the eight locations with high potential for construction of small irrigation systems. The meetings are part of the support for the farmers who will manage the systems themselves, by establishing agricultural cooperatives.
The first part of the meetings, attended by over a hundred farmers, was dedicated to the establishment of an agricultural cooperative through various topics: need for association, financial support, necessary steps for establishing an agricultural cooperative, necessary documentation, presentation of a draft Statute of an agricultural cooperative and establishing a working group in each of the eight locations, who will lead the process on behalf of the producers and form the cooperative.
The second part of the meetings was dedicated to business planning, an example of developing a business plan for raising a permanent plantation, as well as support in preparing a methodology for determining the compensation for irrigation.
